This guide is for installing Keepit on Windows 10
- Go to www.keepit.com and log on with your personal user.
Now follow the picture.
An installer will now be downloaded
- Run the installer
If it asks for the domain admins password. Find your admin password or contact Solution Team to get it.
Keepit will now install. Click on “Udfør” when the installation is done
- Now you have to login with your personal user
After that you have to choose what to back-up. It’s a good idea to backup everything. Later you can specify other folders to back up.
If it’s a standard installation, keep these boxes checked.
Now you are done with the initial setup
- Check that keepit is running, and hover over the icon with the mouse, to see the status
Now click the icon, and click the settings icon that pops up, and click on “indstillinger”
Now you can setup folders to backup, as well as join online drives.
IMPORTANT: Keepit always excludes it’s own data folder – make sure this folder is not in an admin parent folder! If it is, remove it from the excluded folders list and make sure the whole C drive is NOT included.Don’t choose the user folder(s) located in C:\Users\ as it will back up all hidden files and configuration files, resulting in constant syncing.Keep in mindthat if there is a folder in the backup window that starts with “C:\Users\<adminname>\xxx” this folder needs to be removed or excluded. KeepIt should only backup files for the user and not the admin.
Below you can see if you are connected to an online drive. These have to be joined or invited to on the website. Furthermore, you can change the location of your online drive. The online drive root folder should be changed to the folder called C:\Users\\
- Lastly, go to “Generelt” and check the checkbox
This will show a small icon next to files KeepIt have backed up.
